Equipped with precision engineered and internationally renowned Schaller hardware, specially voiced, „Lundgren Pickups“ hand wound in Sweden, precision European craftsmanship and pride, are only a few convincing factors that this bass can only be associated as “Super”.
Discover this revolutionary bass beauty for yourself and how this unique instrument has been conceived as a legendary piece, since its first introduction to the world some 25 years ago.
We proudly present the Northen Series - Super Swede bass, built entirely from the “Magnificently Rare” original Super Swede bass design. First introduced in 1980, built in a limited quantity of merely 364 instruments, this Hagstrom bass wonderchild, has been faithfully reproduced by the Hagstrom team to finally give players the chance to rediscover why this legendary 4-stringer has rightfully earned its name “Super”.
Swedish sonic footprint
As stated in Mikael Jansson’s Hagstrom book “Musik för miljoner”: The (original) Super Swede Bass was designed by Hagstrom´s Head of Design “Per-Åke Olsson”, in collaboration with ABBA´s bass player “Rutger Gunnarsson”. This alliance brought numerous key elements to the table by helping to create the empowering and flowing tone of the “Super Swede Bass”, which has already played deep into the hearts of multitudes of listeners for decades. With its profound bottom end, defined/articulate midrange and silky top end, the Super Swede Bass perfectly gaps the bridge between “Fullerton Hifi” and “Santa Ana bite”, with its own sonorous and unmistakable Swedish sonic footprint. Whether you prefer to choose the neck or bridge pickup in single mode or dial up a blend of the two with the individual volume controls, your ears will be filled with a gammut of tonal options. Paying homage to the Vintage counterparts, the Northen Super Swede Bass is currently available in Natural, Black Gloss and Mahogany Burst and will be shipped with an original luxury Hagstrom Case.
