Hagstrom models use 18:1 or 15:1 gear ratio machine heads based on our own designs to insure accurate tuning. Viking® and HB series basses feature machine heads with a 17:1 gear ratio.
Hagstrom Seafarer II Parlor E
Parlor-sized bodies have been used by acoustic guitar builders for centuries. A compact, easy-to-hold size and focused, intimate voicings have made parlor guitars attractive tools for vocal accompaniment and small ensembles through the ages. Blues and folk musicians embraced them in the early 20th century, and the body shape has become one of the standard offerings among fine guitar producers.
The Hagstrom Seafarer sits squarely in this tradition. Its smaller body and more pronounced waist exhibit classic parlor dimensions. We have chosen mahogany for the back and sides and solid Sitka spruce for the top, which together create a warm and full-bodied voice with especially rich mid-range sonorities. A fingerboard and bridge made of our unique Resinator™ material, with the density, hardness, and sophisticated texture of ebony, contribute a level of tonal articulation usually found only in much more expensive instruments. Fishman’s ISYS pickup and preamp round out the package with authentic and expressive amplification support.

Seafarer II Parlor E Standards
Resinator Wood
Resinator™ wood is a wood composite material that is both more uniform in density and more stable than any standard wood product. These characteristics eliminate dead spots or “wolf tones” sometimes associated with conventional wood fingerboards. Resinator™ wood has an articulate sound similar to high quality ebony, but without any of the problems associated with ebony. It provides a stable and clear tone, and also adds higher overtones and harmonics which uniquely detail each note. Like our H-Expander™ truss rod, Resinator™ wood is a major contributor to the distinctive “Hagstrom tone”.

All Hagstrom acoustic-electric models are equipped with Fishman’s professional quality ISYS 301 Plus preamp and Sonicore transducer system. Advanced features such as a built-in autochromatic tuner and Phase adjustment control provide the perfect support for Hagstrom’s unique acoustic voice.
